Alumni Gathering – Discerning Leadership

by | 13 May 2022 | News

The Discerning Leadership (DL) Program hosted on Friday May 6th the first in-person gathering for its Alumni. This get-together was held at the Jesuit General Curia in Rome and was attended by 15 church leaders from religious congregations and Vatican dicasteries.

Following their participation in the Discerning Leadership learning experience, leaders have long shared their desire to stay connected and meet participants from different cohorts. For this end, the team of the Program has been convening regular webinars as a way to deepen and help integrate participants’ learning and connect them to the wider community of DL Alumni.

The chance to finally meet in person following the pandemic has generated a lot of enthusiasm. Alumni welcomed the opportunity to slow down, gather around meaningful conversations and connect to one another. After a brief welcome, the team guided a moment of contemplative prayer and invited participants for a spiritual conversation in language groups. In the plenary, participants shared how the experience was for them and offered ideas for future alumni gatherings. They also expressed a deep sense of gratitude for the chance to recollect and resource themselves..

The meeting was followed with an “aperitivo” in an adjacent space was organized and allowed for diverse and lively exchanges between different members.

We're passionate about developing the attitudes, skills, and knowledge of the senior Church leaders required to lead in a synodal manner.
